In August 2022, I participated in the training course “Digital Storytelling: Creative Writing Applications and Programs.” The training took place from August 15-20, 2022 in Tenerife and was organized by Teacher’s Academy.

Thanks to my participation in the training, I expanded my knowledge regarding how to create good digital stories and the IT tools that can be used. In addition, I gained new skills in creating: engaging videos and graphics to enhance the story. An important part of the training was the creation of my own project, or story. For this purpose, the character of the protagonist and the features that characterize him were created. During the training, we also learned how to pose dramatic questions that will capture the interest of the audience. Completing the next steps of this task enabled us to create a script for the story. The next task was to choose the right software that enabled us to properly present the story in a digital way.

My idea was to present the story of Lucy the penguin, who was interested in expanding her digital competence. Therefore, she went to an Erasmus + funded course. The most interesting thing was that, a participant from Austria, she took her character to the course, for which she also created a story. Therefore, some of the threads of our stories were intertwined.

Through participation in the training, I also had the opportunity to exchange experiences with participants from other countries. In particular, the guidance on examples of IT tools used to create interesting digital stories was valuable to me. It was also valuable to work in a team and to be able to observe ways to use the knowledge gained to support the transfer of knowledge during lessons or training.

I am grateful that I was able to participate in this training and hope that this is the beginning of my journey in creating engaging digital stories.
